Engineered Wood
Engineered wood is constructed from scraps of timber and waste byproducts like sawdust which have been reformed making use of high temperature, pressure and an adhesive glue to produce a practical solid-wood substitute. In order to match the demands for a woodworking material which is cheaper but also long lasting, the forest industry manufactured different types of wood-based product. Engineered woods are meant to be utilized as a substrate meaning that they are covered using a wood veneer or laminate.

These materials are popularly used in construction projects as manufacturers have taken steps to improve their quality. Particle board is one of the most commonly used types of engineered wood, but there are others. Another similarly well-known and probably more durable type of engineered wood is plywood. Other common examples are flake boards and fiberboards. All of these are manufactured using identical techniques. However, their strength and texture vary on the basis of the raw materials used. Techniques that are obtaining higher density engineered wood products and the addition of materials that are fire retardant has increased the reputation of these solid wood substitutes significantly.
