Glazing
Glazing is a technique for painting furniture and cabinet which alters the texture and color of the surface. It is frequently used to apply faux finishes to cabinets, furniture, and walls. Glazing is a method employed to alter the physical appearance of a traditional paint. It is used to change the tone or hue of the paint color and make it appear either more transparent or translucent. Glazing may also be used in faux finishing techniques to add desired textures to walls.

Glaze is also used in other painting technique such as rag-rolling, sponge painting, and color washing. Glaze is available in water- based and acrylic formulas and have different drying times. An extender is often needed to enable a wide area to be painted even before the glaze starts to dry. The ratio is normally four parts glaze and one part paint. Glaze is most effective on damp surfaces; it’s therefore beneficial to keep the wall wet while applying the glaze.
