Grain Variation
Grain variation is one of the natural features of wood. After sawing a tree, its growth lines will be visible on the cut boards. These lines which occur naturally are proportionally associated with the environmental pressure the tree had to endure while growing. The organic appearance of natural wood is one of the main reasons why most people choose solid or hardwood for construction of kitchen cabinets. Many customers are dazzled by the distorting attributes wood grain variation offers to the general finish of cabinets.
Always anticipate an irregular finish even if it had been applied uniformly. The This lack of uniformity is one of natural wood’s most cherished and unique finishing qualities. Individual boards have distinct grain variation patterns just as established with human fingerprints. This difference doesn't only affect the outer appearance of the wood but also the rate and manner which the wood absorbs finishes and coatings. While the end result could have some color contrasts, a lot of manufacturers offer a variety of finishes which can be used to heighten or suppress the grain variation. While some finishes serve to darken the wood grain lines to facilitate their accentuation, other denser finishes are used to mute their presence without eliminating the grains.
