Hinge Cup
A hinge cup is the name given to a recession that is needed for positioning some models of invisible hinges. Other words that are commonly used interchangeably with a hinge cup are; Euro hinge, invisible hinge and cup hinge. Though there are slight differences between them. A hinge cup is a part of an invisible hinge, it forms half the movable part of a door mechanism together with the arm. Another piece of hardware, a mounting plate complements a hinge cup.

While setting up the hinge cup, ensure that you determine whether the cabinet door should have a profiled edge. If that is the case, then make sure that the bit of the router doesn't cut into the circumference of the cup. A flat bottom hole should be drilled into the backside of the drawer or cabinet door; it is also important to make sure that the hole doesn't pop out of the door's beveled edge. The depth and location of the drilled hole differ between brands though the diameter is always 35mm.
