Light Rail Molding
A light rail molding is basically used to conceal the underside lighting system of a top cabinet. This design of molding is mainly functiona though it can also contribute to the aesthetics of the top cabinets. It is vital to choose a light rail molding that would match and complement the crown molding to ensure there is uniformity in the visual appeal and a high degree of classy craftsmanship. To make a light rail molding, woodworkers can use scraps of the material used for the main cabinets or use separate pieces of wood.

Many light rail moldings are included in a project at the end of cabinetry installation, but can also be delayed until the homeowner installs underside lighting on top cabinets. The most challenging phase of installing a light rail molding is making sure that an appropriate cutout is made of the wood to enable it to be positioned adequately on the lower front edge of the top cabinets installed.
