Medium Density Fiberboard(MDF)
Medium Density Fiberboard also commonly known as MDF boards is a type of engineered wood products. It is quite similar to particle boards that is made from wood pieces joined together by adhesives under high temperature and pressure and then made into sheets. MDF board is a popular example of manufactured wood. MDF is considerably cheaper than natural hardwood. It is referred to as a green product owing to the fact that it is manufactured using waste materials without the need to fell living trees.

MDF allows for consistency all through the board and isn't prone to splintering. When compared to wood, MDF has some disadvantages including lack of grain, proneness to damage by moisture, and a considerably higher weight per inch. The absence of grain is a major disadvantage as the material will require the use of a primer and paint. The material is very absorbent which makes staining difficult and doesn't feature the finished appearance of natural hardwood.
