A microwave cabinet is a storage space, often custom built to house or keep the microwave oven away from view. It may be built as a separate island or added to either the lower or upper cabinets. These cabinets are usually wooden and solely built for the storage of the microwave oven. Some of these cabinets are installed as separate pieces of furniture used to conserve space in the kitchen. They can make a hitherto unused area of the kitchen functional.

 

A lot of microwave cabinets are added to upper cabinets, others to the kitchen base cabinets while some are inclusions to the kitchen island which is placed in the center of the room. Microwave cabinets can be purchased as custom orders to ensure that they complement the kitchen and its existing furniture. Some have a door to keep the appliance hidden. This promotes uniformity in the kitchen since the cabinet is made from the same wood material and are of the same design and finish as the rest of the room's cabinet.
