Ogee Edges
An ogee is a common feature of traditional kitchens designs where the countertop features a convex arch which flows into a concave arch. An ogee edge is a countertop edge which features designs made of flowing arches. An ogee edge is not associated bullnose edge which is basically rounded. Ogee edges are commonly used in the construction of countertops but can also be cut into marble, concrete, and granite. Though more expensive than most edges, ogeeedges add uniqueness to the design of most kitchens.
An ogee edge may also be seen on molding or woodwork and is often cut with the use of a router. The Ogee edges once finished are free of sharp corners and splinters which can be injurious and uncomfortable. The tiered look of ogee edges adds special appeal to the appearance of molding and furniture. Ogee edges can sometimes be used on glass materials, like glass tables and mirrors. An ogee edge can be used in combination with another edge style to enhance the appearance of furniture and countertops further.
