A primer coat is a preparatory layer of paint applied on a raw or freshly sanded surface. Primer coats serve as a foundation which adheres the main coat of paint to the surface. Several materials are being used to improve cabinet design, but an appropriately applied coat of primer will help to smoothen the cabinet top finish.
