Reveal
A reveal is the portion of the cabinet that remains visible after the installation of doors. A reveal overlay occurs when a slight space is present between the doors of the cabinet which exposes the cabinet frame. A reveal is basically a cabinet door which reveals part of the frame. The size of reveals varies based on the space between the doors of the cabinets. It is the midpoint between the full overlay and the inset cabinet door styles.

A reveal overlay occurs when a door is smaller than the cabinet frame but larger than the storage area's opening of the cabinet. The smaller door, therefore, reveals a part of the frame, which is referred to as the reveal. A reveal overlay offers a more traditional look while the inset doors appear more modern. Slightly inset styled hinges are ideal for the installation of reveal overlay cabinet doors.
