Sealer
A sealer is a protective product such as paint, stains, shellac, and oils that are applied on wood to preserve its features and protect it from damage. A sealer typically offers a protective layer to the wood. Sealers block the wood pores from the adverse effects of moisture and certain chemical reactions. There are different types of sealers, each with its unique advantages. A sanding sealer Sanding sealers are extremely thin lacquers that offer a smooth surface for the application of finishes.
Certain sealers form boundary on the wood surface to prevent damages caused by harsh cleaning products. Sealers can also add depth or color to the wood and prevent the wood grain from rising. The term can also be used in reference to a variety of finish applied to a given wood sample.
