Stains
A stain refers to a type of wood finish applied to improve the appearance of furniture. It can alter the color and improve the grain of wood. A stain also serves to protect wood furniture from damage. A stain is applied during the process of finishing a wood furniture. It's a pigmented substance that is used to change the wood color and stains come in different color options. Most stains look like the natural color of woods such as walnut, oak or pecan. Stains bring out the natural characteristics of woods. Some woods soak stains fast while others don't absorb the stain adequately.
It can be challenging to obtain an even and smooth surface by staining, so it may require more than one round of sanding and staining before the project is completed. Stains are manufactured using several different binders. Oil based and water based stains are the two available option. Woodworkers, carpenters, and cabinetmakers need to consider the wood type and the intended functions of the wood surface before choosing an appropriate for the furniture.
