A trim is a piece of wood material which is used to accentuate certain areas of a room. It can be used along cabinets, windows, floors, doors, and ceilings. A trim molding offers a finished appearance to the room. It can be used to hide inconsistencies and gaps but primarily serves as a decorative piece. A trim molding can be used as a substitute for a trim tile. It is typically slightly narrow and thin but may feature designs and curves in each piece.

 

A trim molding made of wood can be stained or painted to suit the decor and style of the room. Trim molding made of plastic polymer are also available. They are more expensive but easier to handle and lighter than wood trim. They can be painted and cut to match the design and measurement requirements of the room in which they are intended to be used.
