Veneer
A veneer is a thin material used for covering engineered wood products like particleboard. Veneer helps to manage to the cost of a project without sacrificing the desired appearance. It is placed on the surface of manufactured wood products using nails, screws or adhesives. Veneers are often used on furniture, cabinets, and floors. The shelves and frames of some cabinet units are manufactured using MDF, plywood, and particles, but the exterior surfaces are covered using veneers.

Veneer create the appearance of natural hardwood and is cost effective for construction projects. Veneers are available in different types of finishes and grains and offer more consistency in the cabinets appearances than most products made of hardwood. Some cabinetmakers make veneers themselves while others buy manufactured veneers. Veneers are particularly suitable for the exposed interior and sides of cabinets, door panels and the remaining areas of the cabinets that are visible.
