Wainscot Panel
The Wainscot panel is a type of traditional panel style which has been in existence dating back to the United States colonial period. It creates an impression of installed raised panels basically by beveling the panels used in creating the facade at the edges. The Wainscot panel is also used to create the full length of a decorative wall or to highlight a traditional kitchen design by serving as a trim which covers half a wall. The fundamental construction of every Wainscot panels includes a bottom rail, a top rail, the beveled panel itself and stiles. If a homeowner decides to add a half wall accent to the kitchen, then it is recommended to add a cove molding and a cap molding to create a decorative transition.
 
The bottom rail in both the half-length and full-length designs can be double the baseboard.Wainscoting can also be used for other purposes besides wall treatment. The technique is also applied in the construction of any panel such as the panels of kitchen cabinet doors. This type of paneling will create cottage styling to just about any kitchen and can also be added after the main the original kitchen cabinets are already in place. Simply detach the doors add a bevel to the center panel's edges to convert it to a Wainscot panel before reassembling and reinstalling the door.
